Saving Runs in the Family!!

24 06 2011

So Ryan’s niece and nephew are over today and he asked what they wanted to do .. They said they wanted to coupon! How happy was I? Well, very because I have TONS of coupons that need a’clippin! Payton wasn’t as stoked when I asked him if he wanted to clip coupons until he saw how excited J and K were!

My Stockpile!

23 06 2011

I’m sure some of you wonder what kind of stuff we buy and what we do with all of it! Well, basically we save half and give away another half. How many times have you been to our place and left with shampoo, a sweet razor or several boxes of cereal? I LOVE giving stuff to people. Secretly, I want them to catch the ‘saving money’ bug. We have a certain hard, iron-working friend who RARELY looks at a price tag yet is IN AWE when I get $13 razors for under a buck. I haven’t been couponing too long (my inserts start 5/1!) yet have managed to get all this stuff AND MORE for under $150 ..for everything. Yes, that includes the MANY packs of diapers and wipes you can’t see.

So, enjoy ..and remember, if you ever feel overwhelmed, START SLOW!

This haul was probably my best. . I think I MADE $9 for taking it all home. Yes, MADE!

This is currently what our pantry looks like. We live in a small apartment so these shelves we found for $10 are amazing!

Toilet paper, laundry soap, dish soap, our favorite antibacterial wipes, miscellaneous cleaners, 20 boxes of cat food, etc. .

Those razors are originally $13, I paid $.89 each – That is THREE rows of Ryan’s FAVORITE body wash, a bin of his deodorant and miscellaneous things slated for giving away!

My shelf of shampoo, deodorant, face wash – three rows of shampoo and condition, they were all under $5 for all . .less than the cost of ONE!

Half of our linen closet – all the diapers and wipes are organized Tetris-style in here. .that took me a while to configure, but it’s jam-packed!

So if you are still hesitant about couponing (and saving money, as a whole), I urge you to read through the blog and ask questions. . I have spent less than ONE MONTH of our grocery budget ($200) !

Old Navy: $2 Tank Sale

22 06 2011

Just wanted to share this, as I will miss out due to my current condition ;D

Old Navy Tankathon! The pre-sale (whatever that means) starts tomorrow. Get your coupon here and bring it to the store to score $2 tanks for women and girls!

This is going to be the PERFECT way to kick off summer clothes shopping, enjoy!

Note: I don’t think this will work in conjunction with the Groupon that was available recently. I think the Groupon excluded sale and promotional items :/

Albertson’s DOUBLES ! ! 6/26-6/28

21 06 2011

We are getting doubles this week!
It’s been pretty slow the last week or two so this should be awesome! I haven’t personally matched up any sales but other sites have and more will come during the week!
Instead of typing out all the matchups, check out Coupon Connections for the deals and scenarios!

Thanks, CouponConnections!

**If you are new to using ALB doubles (they’re called Twice the Value or TTV), see their coupon policy here!

A few things to keep in mind:
*You are allowed (3) doublers PER transaction – this is mandatory, cashiers get in trouble if they accept more, I believe.

*You are allowed (3) transactions in a row before having to either go to the end of the line or taking your groceries out to the car and coming back in –  this varies by store! I have done more than three in a row but this is because it’s dead late at night when I shop and it’s always the same three working so they recognize me/us, actually!

*If you DON’T GET THE PAPER (couponing sin!), you can ask customer service for a sheet of doublers. There are three on a sheet. They are allowed to give one per person per day. Once again, YMMV!

*If you use three doublers, make sure each has a different number, which is found near the barcode . .it’s either a 1, 2 or 3! It won’t work if you have two 2’s! I learned this the hard way, talk about anxiety ..I had to reorganize ALL my coupons. Ugh. I don’t think a lot of people know this though, SO now you do, no excuses 😛

*If you have three transactions and there is a lone person behind you buying one item, LET THEM GO FIRST! People will think you are so generous AND you will avoid the staredowns many couponers get. Not that I CARE what they think or say, it seems the cashiers get more irritated when people are waiting for you. And remember, being cordial to your cashier es muy importante!

I’m sure there are other things I have learned along the way but I must pack up and head to school ..bummer, eh.  Will add more as the week goes on!
